System Management: Reattach Data Files

To enable the WiSeMan System to function as a multi-user system, the data files and programs are kept separate from each other. The programs are automatically attached to the data files when the system is first installed.

Occasionally the programs and data may become unlinked or the data files may be moved to a new area.

This option allows the System Manager to reattach the WiSeMan program to the relocated data files.

TO PREVENT ACCIDENTALLY RUNNING THIS OPTION, THE SYSTEM MANAGER MUST DOUBLE-CLICK TO ACTIVATE IT.

On choosing the Reattach Data Files button, the system will try to find the back-end database, WiSeData.accdb, in the location specified in the WiSeMan.ini file which is found in the installation folder. If WiSeData.accdb cannot be found, this window will open:

Choose the folder that holds the back-end database and choose Open. Then click on the file WiSeData.accdb and choose Open to select this file. The WiSeMan front-end program will then be reattached to the correct back-end database. This re-attaching process completes much quicker if no-one else is using WiSeMan.

Choosing Cancel or selecting an invalid database will log the System Manager out of the system.
